Rb&hArts was established in 2002 and is on of the most successful and longest running hospital arts programmes in London. They operate across three strands of work - visual arts, performance and socially engaged practise. In 2023-2024, rb&hArts delivered 500 workshops and performances, reached 7,000 active participants, alongside regular hospital visitors.
The program is inspired by Creative Health - a research-driven discipline grounded in the belief that creativity is vital to both individual and collective wellbeing. Rb&hArts is recognized as a leader in this area, highlighted in the recent report Understanding Creative Health in London, commissioned by the Mayor of London.
The Royal Brompton Hospital’s inclusion in the Discover South Kensington offers a fresh perspective on the intersection of art and health, an increasingly important focus for cultural institutions.
