Win tickets to Out Shopping: The Dresses of Marion and Maud Sambourne

To celebrate the opening of their new exhibition, Out Shopping: The Dresses of Marion and Maud Sambourne (1880-1910), Leighton House and Sambourne House are offering you the opportunity to win 4 tickets to view this exhibition. This exhibition offers a fascinating glimpse into late Victorian and early 20th-century fashion, featuring rare surviving examples by leading-era designers, many of whom were female.

The exhibition tells the intimate story of the lives of a middle-class mother Marion Sambourne and her affluent daughter Maud Sambourne. It offers an exploration of their mother-daughter relationship intertwined with their profound connection to fashion. This era marked a pivotal moment in fashion history, mirroring contemporary trends in shopping and style consumption.

In addition to the dresses displayed at Leighton House, there's also Out in Paris, a collection of street photography by illustrator Linley Sambourne, downstairs in the Tavolozza Drawings Gallery, capturing a weekend in Paris in 1906.

For the first time in the history of the museums, the exhibition will span across both houses, with the exhibition journey continuing at Sambourne House, with a small display in the main bedroom, as well as a documentary film on the conservation of the dresses. Out Shopping: The Dresses of Marion and Maud Sambourne (1880-1910) is open until 20th October 2024 and you can book tickets and find out more here.
