Head over to South Kensington's cultural district and try something different this summer.

Join the Mad Hatter's workshop at the V&A or throw some moves to the beat of a silent disco at the Natural History Museum. Download the South Ken Green Trail and explore the biodiverse installation pop-ups along Exhibition Road or head over to Hyde Park and learn to fly through the air with the greatest of ease on the Gorilla trapeaze.

If you need to cool off, dip your feet in the Serpentine Lido followed by a bite to eat at The Rooftop. And what better way to end of your day than a trip to the iconic Royal Albert Hall for the much-anticipated Proms.

Dino Snores for Kids

Have you ever wanted to have a sleepover with a giraffe? Or spend the night camped beneath a blue whale? This unique sleepover gives kids aged 7 to 11 the chance to explore the Museum after dark while taking part in fun and educational activities.

Gorilla Circus Flying Trapeze School

Anyone can come and learn to fly in one of the two-hour classes provided, the youngest students are 8, and oldest (so far) 78! You will start with a warm-up, moving on to simple tricks and as your confidence grows, attempt the star trick on the Flying Trapeze. There is a variety of drop-in sessions, classes and courses to choose from.

The Luna Cinema at Kensington Palace

The Luna Cinema returns to Kensington Palace with a line-up of classic and feel-good films to brighten your summer evenings. Head outside for a memorable cinematic experience under the stars. Tokyo 1964: Designing Tomorrow

The Tokyo 1962 Olympic games, is often seen as a turning point for Japan. This exhibition explores the pioneering design of a group of young Japanese designers and architects who harnessed the opportunity to reframe the country’s profile and tell a fresh story to the world.

Choose your side as three DJs do battle over separate wireless channels, playing the best in pop, rock and party classics. Don a headset and carry on the party into the night in the spectacular Hintze Hall.

Families can enjoy free activities and events at the Museum every day. At weekends, join in with Pop-up Performances on Saturdays and making activities on Sundays. During the school holidays there are additional events to inspire families and to get involved.

Summer Events in South Kensington

This summer there are lots of things to do in South Kensington if you are looking for a great day out - from boating on the Serpentine, following our South Ken Green Trail, exploring the Serpentine Pavilion, visiting a great exhibition - then take a look at our summer highlights.

How to get here while South Ken station is closed

Over the next few months there will be several planned closures at South Kensington Tube Station so here are all the dates you need to help you plan your journey to minimise disruption. There is more information available on the TfL website. This means that South Kensington station will be closed on the following dates: 4-12 Aug 4-5 Sept 18-19 Sept.

Crochet your own Sophie the Stegosaurus with an online class from TOFT. You will receive everything you need to make your dino, including wool, stuffing, crochet hook, sewing-up accessories and pattern, as well as expert tuition. During the workshop you will learn how to read a crochet pattern, start and finish each body part and sew them all together.

Series 2 Secrets of the Museum

In the second series, delve even further into the lives of the V&A's objects. The series will follow the work of the curators, conservators and technicians, who preserve and care for these priceless objects, including the the delicate Michelangelo wax sculpture and Shirley Bassey's stage costumes.
