Personal information

If you sign up via the newsletter subscription form, we will use your personal information collected from the newsletter subscription form to keep you informed about events, news, competitions and offers we think will be of interest to you. Your personal information will only be shared with a third party if you have consented to receive third party marketing information as part of a competition application and you have opted in to receive such information. 

If you subscribe to our newsletter, your personal details will be collected and transferred to Mailchimp where they will they will be stored in our Mailchimp account in order to allow us to create distribution lists and send out email campaigns. We will give you the chance to be removed from our marketing database at any time by unsubscribing from the newsletter or by contacting us at requesting your details to be removed. The type of information we will hold if you subscribe to our newsletter will be your name and email address.

If you sign up for information about a specific project, including South Ken Zero Emissions and Nature Positive (South Ken ZEN+), will use your personal information to keep you informed about progress with this project and related events and activities which we think will be of interest to you for the duration of the project (up to May 2026) unless you opt out. We may use a third party to collect personal data for a specific project. For the South Ken ZEN+ stakeholder engagement work between May and August 2024, we are using Allies & Morrison Ltd to manage the survey including collecting email addresses and non-identifiable personal information. Other than this agreement with the data collection company, your personal information will not be shared with a third party.  Allies & Morrison's Privacy policy can be found here.

If you contact us by any other means (e.g. email), we may keep a record of that contact and the information you provide at that time, on the basis that we have a legitimate interest to do so to respond to your inquiry and let you know about progress related to the issue you raised.

Discover South Kensington stores personal details on various systems; Mailchimp, Eventbrite, Excel spreadsheets and email providers such as Microsoft 365 for emails and contact details. 

How long we will keep your information

We aim to keep personal information only for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which the information was collected.

Specifically, with regards to Newsletter Subscriptions, we will retain your data until you unsubscribe from the Newsletter. Once you have unsubscribed we may retain your data for up to 6 months to ensure that your data has been deleted or anonymised in all locations. We will delete or anonymise your data once you have unsubscribed. Data received with regards to a Competition entry will be retained for 2 years.


When someone visits our website we collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things like the number of visitors to the various parts of the website. We collect this information via Google Analytics in a way which does not identify anyone.

The tool we use to analyse visitor patterns uses 'cookies', which are text files placed on your computer to collect information. You can decide if you want to accept or reject cookies by changing the settings on your browser.

We will not associate any data gathered from this site with any personally identifying information from any source. If we do want to collect personally identifiable information through our web site, we will make it clear when we collect it and will explain what we intend to do with it.
